Making Kofta Empty
PostSubject: Making Kofta   Making Kofta EmptyMon Aug 29, 2011 7:43 pm

The following was my attempt at Kofta..

This is my attempt at making Kofta.. I made it in a tomato sauce but i was told that it wud be much nicer on its own served with a garlic dip.
Although i shaped the kofta properly before cooking, the cooking process shrunk them and they looked more like balls hahahahah so next time i wil shape them a little longer.
If this receipe is incorrect or in need of improvement, please do not hesitate to correct me or make suggestions..

Kofta comes in many varieties but i wanted to start easy !!!!!!!!!!

1 LB ground beef or lamb
1 Large yellow onion finely chopped
1 clove of garlic finely minced or 1 tsp garlic paste
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley (preferred) or 2 tbsp dried parsley
1 egg
1 tbsp melted butter
1 tbsp salt
2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp cajun seasoning or All spice

Mix 9 ingredients in a large mixing bowl together until all well incorporated.
Cover and put in fridge for at least 3 hours (let it marinade over night for optimal flavour
When ready to cook, roll the beef into fingers the size of a mans thumb.
Cook under Med high Grill or on BBQ.
Cook on each side ...

Serve with Garlic dip

Making Kofta Empty
PostSubject: Re: Making Kofta   Making Kofta EmptyMon Aug 29, 2011 8:15 pm

Sounds delicious! I'm so excited! I got REALLY tired of kofta in Egypt, because we ate it about four times a week (because it was one of the things that I really liked). I haven't had any in more than a year though, so I'm really looking forward to this. When I go to the grocery store the next time, I'm going to buy the stuff that I need for this reecipe and give it a go. Thanks! Smile

Me yummy, licking my lips right now!

I love kofta, but a bit lazy when I make it. I use packet of powder mix that I regularly take home from Turkey :O

Must do better next time and use all these ingredients from scratch!
